
Agricultural Commissioner Sid Miller’s office had good news for Stephenville with the announcement at Tuesday’s city council meeting that a CDBG “downtown revitalization grant” for slightly more than $290,000 is headed to town for sidewalks along East Washington Street.
Mayor Doug Svien explained the grant was brought about through the efforts Jen Basham the city’s director of parks and leisure services development services department.
The grant will fund sidewalks and ADA compliant ramps along both sides of East Washington Street starting at Graham Street and extending to the property line of 467 East Washington Street.
” There will are no added costs to property owners in the affected area,” Basham said.
The grant will aid in the rehabilitation of brick streets on Columbia and Virginia streets.
The grant award of $223,576 is being matched by city funds totaling $67,102 for a grand total of $290,678.
